The Leappad Tablet Explorer from Leapfrog is an awesome gift for kids. It’s designed for 4-9 year olds, but it also fits other age groups.
This is the best iPad for Kids, and it will Sell Out Quickly!
To be honest, you should really get it now to avoid the holiday rush!
The LeapPad tablet contains a built in video and camera to feed ones creativity, at the same time offers accessibility to games, apps, videos and learning books. Its durability reinstates the screen size and processor speed deficiencies. Perfect for kids ages 4-9 years old, it is designed with a smooth frame and easy-to-touch keys and an intelligible design for children to easily use without running through a tutorial.
ACTIVITIES AND GAMES
The LeapPad and Leapster Explorer share similar features. Kids can play educational games, play flash cards, read electronic books, be trained to write, watch videos, develop animation and art abilities, and play or listen to music. While the Leapster Explorer has a separate camera accessory, the LeapPad has a built in video and camera recorder.
The best thing about the LeapPad is that it operates together with some Leapster Explorer applications and games. Any downloadable Leapster Explorer app can be uploaded directly to the LeapPad. The LeapPad also has a library of game apps and cartridges which can be shared. Although most applications and games are add-ons, it is not included upon purchase.
Great features found on the Leap Frog Leap Pad Tablet:

- Children’s Art pieces and videos can be shared to other computers.
- Children can do their own voice recording with the stories about the gadget.
- Parents can track their child’s level in learning online and the LeapPad can directly modify them as they access several programs.
- Programs are voice-guided for children who can’t fully read well or can’t read yet, so it won’t affect their use of the games or creative programs.
- The LeapPad presents a wide range of selection for games and educational materials and works well with any Leapster Explorer apps and games.
What are the games included upon the LeapPad purchase:

- Petpad – While educating them with traditional pet actions, kids can be trained to draw some letters. Kids can play PetPad with the Leapster Explorer, however kids can shake the LeapPad to make their pet jump over a pond, play with the mic to blow dry their pet, and tilt it to move about their pet. To buy accessories and food using collected points for the pet online, the LeapPad needs to be connected to the computer. Although, it won’t affect the pet’s life, it is an advantage for parents to check their kid’s learning development once they connect the program to the computer.
- All About Me-Story Studio – The Story Studio allows kids to make their own book which can be uploaded in the LeapFrog Connect to view or share online with friends. It collates all the pictures, artworks, recording and writing works done by kids.
- Art Studio- The Art Studio is an Art program addition to the LeapPad and Leapster2 which cannot be found in the Leapster Explorer. Instead, Art Studio from Tangled or Mr. Pencil was used as an alternative for kids to get creative. The Art Studio allows children to use virtual shapes, stamps, pencils, erasers and pattern brushes to make drawings and develop their creativity.
- Video & Cam Recorder – The LeapPad contains a low-res, built in video and cam recorder. Children can take instant pictures and then put fun photo/video effects in it. Although, photo quality is quite noticeable for some, it is more cost-effective than a hi-res one.

Games, videos and book add-ons require app download or use of a cartridge. Take note, there are over 100 selections in the library. Separate reviews on additional games and apps are on MomBuzz. (refer to the bottom post to view the other reviews.)
Disadvantages:
-It doesn’t have rechargeable batt, which is not a major concern for 1. The batt carries on an extensive period and 2. One can buy eight eneloop Sanyo rechargeable batt on Amazon, 4 for the LeapPad and the remaining 4 for recharging as replacement batteries.
-It doesn’t have Wireless internet (Wifi) which makes uploads, downloads and updates a hassle. But for its price, it’s quite reasonable, plus it’s highly unlikely for one to use wifi and play at the same time.
-The LeapPad is not preloaded and it requires update (up to an hour) upon loading all the included applications.
-The books, games and videos are quite expensive as to all LeapFrog products are. Although it includes several applications which allows infinite creativity. Plus it’s as if all LeapFrog products (Leapster Explorer, Tag reading-system and built-in camera) are in one with the LeapPad alone.
The LeapPad Explorer Tablet directly boosts a child’s self-confidence. With all the smart phones, laptops and gadgets found at home, the Leapfrog Tablet Explorer is a must buy child’s version for smart phones/laptops.
